A Rollup Summary Field in Zoho CRM is a custom field that aggregates values from a related module’s records into the parent record. It can calculate the sum, count, maximum, or minimum of a numeric field across all related child records, giving the parent record an automatically updated aggregate view.

How Rollup Summary Fields Work

A Rollup Summary Field is configured on a parent module (such as Account) and references a child module (such as Deals) linked via a lookup. You specify the aggregate function (SUM, COUNT, MAX, MIN) and the field to aggregate. For example, a “Total Won Revenue” rollup on the Account module sums the Amount field of all closed-won Deals linked to that Account.

The value updates automatically whenever a child record is created, edited, or deleted. No manual calculation or workflow is needed.

Industry Example

B2B Distribution: A distributor adds a “Total Lifetime Revenue” Rollup Summary Field to the Account module, summing the amount of all closed-won Deals. A second rollup counts open deals. Account managers can see at a glance which accounts have generated the most revenue historically and how many active opportunities are currently in progress, without running a separate report.
