A Rollup Summary Field is configured on a parent module (such as Account) and references a child module (such as Deals) linked via a lookup. You specify the aggregate function (SUM, COUNT, MAX, MIN) and the field to aggregate. For example, a “Total Won Revenue” rollup on the Account module sums the Amount field of all closed-won Deals linked to that Account.
The value updates automatically whenever a child record is created, edited, or deleted. No manual calculation or workflow is needed.
A Rollup Summary Field aggregates values from related module records into a parent record. It calculates the sum, count, maximum, or minimum of a specified field across all child records linked via a lookup, updating automatically as child records change.
Rollup Summary Fields can be created on any module that has a one-to-many relationship with another module via a lookup field. Common examples are Account (rolling up Deal values, Case counts) and Contact (rolling up activity counts or related deal amounts).
