RTMP Broadcast

RTMP Broadcast in Zoho Meeting streams a live session to an external platform such as YouTube Live or Facebook Live at the same time as the Zoho session

Technical Term

RTMP Broadcast turns Zoho Meeting into a production streaming tool. It sends the session feed to any platform that accepts an RTMP stream key, which includes YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and many professional streaming services. The Zoho Meeting session and the external stream run simultaneously, so the host manages one session that reaches two audiences at once.

How RTMP Broadcast Works in Zoho Meeting

Before starting the webinar or meeting, the host obtains an RTMP server URL and stream key from the target platform (for example, YouTube Studio). These are entered into the RTMP Broadcast settings in Zoho Meeting. When the session starts and the host activates broadcasting, the meeting feed is pushed in real time to the external platform. Viewers on YouTube or Facebook watch the stream without needing a Zoho Meeting account. The Zoho Meeting session itself continues normally with its registered attendees.

When to Use RTMP Broadcast

Use RTMP Broadcast when your intended audience exceeds your Zoho Meeting plan’s webinar capacity, or when you want to reach viewers on public social media platforms without requiring them to register. It is also useful for archiving to YouTube automatically. Do not use it if your content is confidential: RTMP streams to public platforms are visible to anyone. For internal broadcasts, use a private YouTube stream or a platform that supports access control.

Key Considerations for RTMP Broadcast

RTMP Broadcast availability depends on your Zoho Meeting plan; verify it is included before committing to this approach for an important event. There is typically a 10 to 30 second delay between what happens in the Zoho Meeting session and what viewers see on the external platform, so live interaction with external viewers is not practical. Test the full flow, including the stream key entry and platform activation, at least once in a test session. If the stream drops mid-session, reconnecting requires re-entering the RTMP settings.

India Example: A Mumbai-based technology association hosts an annual summit as a Zoho Meeting webinar for 300 registered delegates. Simultaneously, RTMP Broadcast pushes the stream to the association’s YouTube channel, reaching an additional 2,000 public viewers who did not register but follow the channel.
Which platforms can receive an RTMP Broadcast from Zoho Meeting?

Any platform that supports RTMP ingestion can receive the stream. Common choices include YouTube Live, Facebook Live, LinkedIn Live, and Twitch. You need the platform’s RTMP server URL and a stream key, both of which are available in the platform’s live streaming settings. Professional streaming services and corporate video platforms that accept RTMP input also work.

Is there a delay between the Zoho Meeting session and the RTMP stream on external platforms?

Yes. RTMP streaming introduces a latency of roughly 10 to 30 seconds depending on network conditions and the receiving platform’s encoding pipeline. This delay means external viewers see the session slightly behind registered attendees inside Zoho Meeting. For this reason, real-time interaction with external stream viewers during the session is not practical.
