A Forecast in Zoho CRM is a projection of expected sales revenue for a defined period, calculated by applying probability weightings to the deals currently in the pipeline. It helps sales managers set realistic targets, allocate resources, and identify whether the team is on track to meet its quota.

How Forecast is Calculated

Each Deal Stage has an associated Probability percentage. The weighted forecast value for a deal is: Deal Amount multiplied by Probability. A deal worth INR 10 lakhs at 60% probability contributes INR 6 lakhs to the forecast. The total forecast is the sum of all weighted deal values expected to close within the forecast period.

Forecast Categories

Deals are grouped into Forecast Categories: Pipeline (early stage deals), Best Case (likely to close), Commit (rep has committed to closing), and Closed (already won). Managers can view the forecast broken down by these categories and by individual rep, team, or region.

Industrial Supplies: A regional sales manager reviews the monthly forecast every Monday. The pipeline shows INR 85 lakhs across 12 open deals. After applying stage probabilities, the weighted forecast is INR 38 lakhs. The quota for the month is INR 50 lakhs. The gap signals that the team needs to either accelerate existing deals or add new deals to the pipeline within the first two weeks of the month.
