Bigin groups Activities into three types: Tasks (things to do in the future), Calls (logged phone conversations), and Events (scheduled meetings). Each Activity is linked to a contact, a company, or a pipeline deal, and carries a due date, owner, and status. Completed Activities appear in the record’s timeline, building a chronological history of all interactions. Upcoming Activities feed into the user’s task list and appear as reminders in the Bigin mobile app and calendar sync.
Log an Activity every time any member of your team has a meaningful interaction with a prospect or customer. Use Tasks when you need a reminder to take a future action. Log Calls immediately after a conversation so the details are captured while memory is fresh. Use Events when a scheduled meeting involves a calendar entry that needs to be shared or synced. Activities should be the first thing checked when a team member picks up a deal that belonged to someone else.
Bigin does not automatically log calls made from a mobile phone unless a supported telephony integration is configured. Manual logging discipline is therefore essential, particularly for teams that conduct most of their sales over the phone. Overdue Activities appear in the Wall and in reports, giving managers visibility into deals that have gone without contact. Bigin’s Activity module is simpler than Zoho CRM’s: it does not support custom activity types or complex recurrence rules.
Bigin supports recurring Events through its calendar integration, so a weekly meeting can be set as a repeating calendar event that syncs to Google Calendar or Office 365. However, recurring Tasks in Bigin are limited compared to full CRM tools. For frequent recurring outreach, consider using a Workflow to automatically create a new Task at a fixed interval after the previous one is marked complete.
Activities linked to a contact or deal are visible to anyone who has access to that record in Bigin. This means a manager or colleague picking up a deal can see the full history of past calls, tasks, and meetings without needing to ask the original owner. Visibility follows Bigin’s record-level access permissions rather than the Activity’s assigned user.
