Signals (Bigin)

Signals in Zoho Bigin are real-time notifications that alert sales users to customer actions, such as email opens or form submissions, so they can

Business Term

Signals in Bigin surface the moments when a prospect or customer takes a meaningful action, so the sales rep is notified instantly rather than discovering the activity hours later. This converts reactive follow-up into timely, contextual outreach that aligns with the buyer’s own engagement moment.

How Signals Works in Zoho Bigin

Signals appear as real-time push notifications inside the Bigin interface and mobile app. They are triggered by customer-facing events: an email being opened, a link in an email being clicked, a web form submission, or a response to a survey. Each Signal links directly to the relevant contact or deal record, so the user can take immediate action, such as making a call or sending a reply, from the notification itself without searching for the record manually.

When to Use Signals

Signals are most valuable in short sales cycles where timing matters, such as retail B2B, professional services proposals, or event-driven offers. Configure Signals for your highest-priority pipeline stages, particularly the proposal and negotiation stages, where a prospect re-engaging with a document is a clear buying signal. Avoid over-configuring Signals for every minor event: notification fatigue leads users to ignore them, which defeats their purpose entirely.

Key Considerations for Signals

Signals depend on Bigin’s email integration: the email account must be connected and tracked within Bigin for email-open or link-click Signals to function. Signals for web form submissions require a Bigin web form to be in use. Bigin’s Signals are similar to the Signals feature in Zoho CRM but are scoped to the integrations Bigin natively supports. Users must have browser or mobile notifications enabled to receive Signals in real time.

India Example: A Bengaluru training institute uses Bigin Signals to watch for email opens on their brochure emails. When a corporate HR manager opens the email twice in one day, the sales rep receives a Signal and calls within minutes. Close rates on those same-day calls are significantly higher than cold follow-up the next morning.
Do Signals in Bigin work with Gmail and Outlook?

Yes. When you connect your Gmail or Outlook account to Bigin and enable email tracking, Signals can notify you when a tracked email is opened or a link is clicked by the recipient. The email integration must be configured in Bigin’s settings, and the recipient’s email client must allow the tracking pixel to load for open-tracking to function.

Can I control which Signals I receive so I am not overwhelmed by notifications?

Yes. Bigin allows users to configure their Signal preferences, choosing which types of events generate notifications. You can enable Signals only for the events most relevant to your role, such as form submissions or email opens on proposals, and disable lower-priority events to keep notifications focused and actionable.
