Passing Score

The minimum score a learner must achieve on a Zoho Learn quiz or assessment to be considered successful and progress in the course.

What is Passing Score in Zoho Learn?

Passing score is the minimum percentage or raw score a learner must earn on a quiz or final assessment to pass that assessment. Admins set the passing score per quiz when configuring a course.

How Passing Score Affects Course Completion

If a quiz is marked as required for course completion, learners who score below the passing threshold cannot complete the course until they retake and pass the quiz. This ensures a minimum standard of knowledge before a certificate is issued.

Setting the Right Threshold

A common passing score is 70 to 80 percent. Setting it too low makes the assessment meaningless. Setting it too high without adequate instructional support leads to high failure rates and learner frustration. Review quiz analytics regularly and adjust the threshold based on actual learner performance data.

Can different quizzes in the same course have different passing scores?

Yes. Passing score is configured per quiz, so a knowledge check mid-course can have a lower threshold than the final assessment required for certification.

What happens if a learner fails to reach the passing score?

If retakes are allowed, the learner can attempt the quiz again. If the maximum attempts are exhausted, the learner remains stuck at that lesson until an admin resets their attempts.
