Zoho Learn

Instructor

A Zoho Learn user role with permissions to create course content, grade assignments, respond to learner discussions, and view learner progress for assigned courses.

What is an Instructor in Zoho Learn?

An instructor is a Zoho Learn user who creates and manages course content. Instructors can build lessons, design quizzes, grade assignment submissions, facilitate discussions, and monitor the progress of learners enrolled in their courses.

Instructor vs Admin

Admins have full portal access including user management, billing, and portal settings. Instructors have scoped access: they can only manage the courses assigned to them. This separation lets organisations involve subject-matter experts as instructors without giving them full administrative control.

Instructor Notifications

Zoho Learn notifies instructors when learners submit assignments awaiting manual grading, post in course discussions, or ask questions. Instructors can respond directly from the notification or from the course management interface.

Can an instructor also be a learner?

Yes. A user can hold multiple roles in Zoho Learn. An instructor for one course can be enrolled as a learner in another course, with each role’s interface accessible from the same account.

How does an instructor grade assignments?

Assignment submissions appear in the instructor’s grading queue. The instructor reviews the submitted file, enters a score and optional feedback, and submits the grade. The learner receives a notification and the score is reflected in their course progress.
