Course Category

A classification label in Zoho Learn used to group related courses, making it easier for learners to browse and for admins to organise the course catalogue.

What is a Course Category in Zoho Learn?

Course categories are organisational tags that group related courses in the Zoho Learn catalogue. A category might be a department name, skill area, or compliance topic such as Finance, Sales Onboarding, or IT Security.

Why Categories Matter

As the course library grows, categories help learners find relevant content quickly. The portal homepage can display courses filtered by category, reducing the time learners spend searching.

Managing Categories

Admins create and manage categories from the portal settings. A single course can belong to one category. Categories can be reordered and renamed without affecting the courses assigned to them.

Can learners filter courses by category?

Yes. The learner-facing portal includes a category filter so users can browse only the courses relevant to their role or interests.

Is there a limit on the number of categories?

Zoho Learn does not impose a hard limit on categories, but keeping the list concise (10 to 20 categories) improves navigation and avoids overwhelming learners.
