Time Log (Projects)

An individual time entry in Zoho Projects recording how long a team member worked on a specific task on a specific date.

What Is a Time Log in Zoho Projects?

A time log in Zoho Projects is a single entry recording the hours spent by a team member on a particular task on a particular date. Multiple time logs aggregate into a timesheet. Each log entry captures the date, task, hours worked, whether the hours are billable, and any notes about the work done.

Logging Methods

Team members can log time manually by entering hours, or use Zoho Projects’ built-in timer to track time in real time as they work. The timer can be started and stopped during the workday and converts to a time log entry when stopped.

Billable vs Non-Billable

Each time log can be marked as billable or non-billable. Billable hours flow into client invoices. Non-billable hours still count toward resource utilisation but do not generate revenue. The split between billable and non-billable time is a key efficiency metric for professional services firms.
