Time Log

A Time Log in Zoho People is a single entry in the timesheet recording the hours spent on a specific task or project on a specific date. Multiple time logs accumulate to form a complete timesheet for the period.

What is a Time Log in Zoho People?

A Time Log is the atomic unit of timesheet data. Each time you work on something and record it, you create a time log entry: date, project or job, number of hours, billable or non-billable flag, and an optional description of the work. Multiple time logs across different dates and projects are grouped together to form the employee’s timesheet for the week or month.

Creating time logs

Employees create time logs directly in the Zoho People timesheet module, on the mobile app, or through a timer that starts and stops to automatically calculate duration. Some organisations require time logs to be created daily; others allow employees to fill in their timesheet at the end of the week.

Time Log vs Attendance

Attendance records presence (was the employee at work on this day, and for how long?). A Time Log records allocation (what project did they work on during those hours?). Attendance and timesheets serve different purposes and are maintained separately in Zoho People, though both feed into payroll in different ways.
