A subtask in Zoho Projects is a task nested under a parent task. It represents a smaller, more granular piece of work required to complete the parent task. Subtasks can have their own assignees, due dates, priorities, and time estimates, independent of the parent task.
Use subtasks when a task is complex enough that breaking it down improves clarity and accountability but not so large that it should be a separate top-level task. For example, a task called Set Up CRM might have subtasks for Import Leads, Configure Pipelines, and Set Up Workflow Rules.
The parent task’s percentage completion can be automatically calculated based on the completion status of its subtasks. This gives an accurate picture of parent task progress without requiring manual updates from the task owner.
