Subform (Creator)

A Subform in Zoho Creator is a nested form component that allows multiple related records to be added within a single parent form, capturing line-item style data.

What Is a Subform in Zoho Creator?

A Subform in Zoho Creator is a repeating section embedded within a parent form that captures multiple rows of related data in a single submission. Each row in the Subform is its own mini-record with its own set of fields. This is the standard approach for line-item data: an order form contains a Subform for order items, where each row has product name, quantity, and unit price fields.

Subform Structure and Fields

The Subform fields are configured independently from the parent form fields. Builders add the relevant field types to the Subform columns. Formula fields within the Subform can calculate row-level values such as line totals. The parent form can then reference Subform aggregate data using rollup formula fields, such as summing all line totals to produce an order total.

Subform Data in Reports and Deluge

Subform records are stored as child records linked to the parent. Reports can be built to display Subform data, and Deluge scripts can fetch and iterate over a record’s Subform rows using the standard fetch records pattern. This makes Subforms central to any Creator application that handles multi-item transactions, project tasks lists, material checklists, or other structured repeating data.
