Sprint Goal

A brief statement defining what the team aims to achieve during a sprint in Zoho Projects, providing focus and a measure of success for the iteration.

What Is a Sprint Goal?

A sprint goal in Zoho Projects is a one or two sentence objective that describes what the team intends to deliver by the end of the sprint. It provides context for the sprint backlog and gives the team a shared purpose beyond a list of tasks.

Writing Effective Sprint Goals

Good sprint goals are outcome-oriented, not task-oriented. Instead of Complete 12 tasks, write Deploy the customer login module to staging. A clear goal helps the team make in-sprint decisions when unexpected issues arise, prioritising work that contributes to the goal.

Sprint Goal in Reviews

At the sprint review, the team evaluates whether the sprint goal was met, not just whether all tasks were completed. Sometimes all tasks are done but the goal is not met due to integration issues; sometimes the goal is met despite incomplete tasks. The goal is the more meaningful measure.
