Shift Schedule

A Shift Schedule in Zoho People is a roster that assigns specific shifts to employees across a calendar period — such as a weekly rotating roster where different employees cover morning, afternoon, and night shifts on different days.

What is a Shift Schedule in Zoho People?

A Shift Schedule defines which shift each employee will work on each date within a roster period. For organisations with multiple shifts — manufacturing plants, BPO centres, hospitals, retail stores — a Shift Schedule manages the rotation so the right number of employees are present on each shift every day.

Schedule types

  • Fixed schedule: An employee always works the same shift. Simple to configure, appropriate for office-based roles.
  • Rotating schedule: Employees cycle through different shifts on a defined pattern (e.g., Week 1 Morning, Week 2 Evening, Week 3 Night).
  • Flexi schedule: Employees choose their shift within a defined window, subject to minimum coverage requirements.

Schedule-based attendance evaluation

When attendance is evaluated, Zoho People checks the clock-in time against the employee’s scheduled shift for that day. This means a clock-in at 8:00 PM is correct for a night shift employee but would be flagged as an unusual deviation for a day shift employee — the schedule provides the context for interpreting attendance data.
