Reach in Zoho Social is the count of unique accounts (individual people or pages) that saw a specific post or a brand’s content during a defined period. Unlike impressions (which count total views including multiple views by the same person), reach counts each viewer only once. Reach is a measure of how many distinct people your content actually reached, making it a better indicator of audience exposure than impressions.
Reach can be split into organic reach (people who saw the post through unpaid distribution, such as their feed or search) and paid reach (people who saw the post through a promoted or boosted advertisement). Most social platforms report both separately in their analytics. Zoho Social’s analytics show the reach data available from each platform’s API, which typically includes total reach and may break down organic versus paid where the platform provides this.
Tracking reach over time in Zoho Social helps you understand whether your content is distributing effectively to new audiences or primarily reaching the same existing followers. Growing reach alongside a stable or growing follower count suggests your content is being shared and discovered organically. Declining reach on a platform may indicate algorithm changes, reduced posting frequency, or content that is not resonating with the platform’s distribution system.
Follower count is the number of accounts that have chosen to follow your profile. Reach is the number of accounts that actually saw a specific piece of content. Reach can exceed your follower count if content is shared and seen by non-followers, or it can be much lower if the platform’s algorithm shows your post to only a fraction of your followers. Reach is a more meaningful measure of a post’s actual distribution than follower count alone.
Reach data availability in Zoho Social depends on what each platform’s API provides. Facebook Pages and Instagram Business Accounts typically share reach data with third-party tools. LinkedIn and Twitter/X may provide reach or impression data depending on their API access levels. Some platforms provide reach at the post level, others only at the page level for a given period. Zoho Social displays the reach data available from each platform’s API within its analytics reports.
