Number Field

A Number Field in Zoho Creator accepts numeric input and supports validation rules, decimal precision settings, and use in formula calculations.

What Is a Number Field in Zoho Creator?

A Number Field is a form input in Zoho Creator that accepts numeric values only. It is used for quantities, measurements, prices, counts, scores, and any other data that should be stored and processed as a number rather than text. Number Fields can be configured for integers only or to allow decimal places with a specified precision.

Validation and Range Rules

Builders can set minimum and maximum value constraints on Number Fields, ensuring users cannot enter values outside an acceptable range. For example, a quantity field might enforce a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1000. These validation rules are applied when the form is submitted and provide instant feedback if the entered value falls outside the defined limits.

Use in Calculations

Number Fields are the primary input for formula fields and Deluge calculations. A total cost field might use a formula that multiplies a Quantity Number Field by a Unit Price Number Field. Aggregate report functions such as sum, average, minimum, and maximum only operate on Number Fields, making it important to capture numeric data in the correct field type rather than as text.
