Lag time in Zoho Projects is a positive time buffer inserted between a predecessor and successor task in a dependency relationship. It represents a mandatory delay, such as a review period, an approval process, or a physical process that takes time after the predecessor finishes.
If a painting task is followed by a drying task with a 24-hour lag, the drying task cannot start until 24 hours after painting finishes, even if the painting is done ahead of schedule. Lag time is entered when creating or editing the task dependency.
Lag time delays the start of the successor (positive time). Lead time accelerates the successor, allowing it to start before the predecessor is fully complete (negative time). Both are used to represent real-world scheduling constraints in the project plan.
