What Is Item Categorisation?

Item categorisation in Zoho Inventory lets you organise your product catalogue into logical groups such as Electronics, Apparel, or Raw Materials. Each item can be assigned to one category, which helps with reporting, filtering, and applying category-level settings.

Setting Up Categories

Navigate to Items > Categories in Zoho Inventory to create a category hierarchy. Categories can be nested up to two levels. Once created, assign items to categories from the item detail page.

Reporting Benefits

Category-level reports let you analyse sales performance, stock value, and purchase spend by product group. This is particularly useful for businesses with diverse product lines that need to compare category contribution to revenue.
