A field in Zoho Creator is a single data element within a form — equivalent to a column in a database table. Each field has a name, a data type (text, number, date, dropdown, etc.), and display properties. The combination of all fields in a form defines the structure of the data the application collects.
Each field can be configured with: whether it is mandatory, a default value, validation rules (minimum/maximum value, allowed characters), tooltip text, help text, and visibility conditions (show or hide the field based on other field values). Formula fields calculate their value automatically from other fields using Deluge expressions.
Lookup fields create relationships between forms. A lookup field in a Work Order form pointing to a Customer form links each work order to a specific customer record. This relational capability is what elevates Zoho Creator from a simple form tool to a full application development platform.
