Deluge in Creator

Zoho's proprietary scripting language used within Zoho Creator to write form validation, workflow logic, custom functions, and integration code for application automation.

What Is Deluge in Zoho Creator?

Deluge (Data Enriched Language for the Universal Grid Environment) is Zoho’s proprietary scripting language, deeply integrated into Zoho Creator. It is used to write form validation logic, workflow automation, custom functions, scheduled tasks, and integration tasks. Most Zoho Creator applications require at least some Deluge to implement custom business logic beyond what point-and-click configuration supports.

Deluge Syntax

Deluge uses Python-like readable syntax with built-in functions for common operations: string manipulation, date arithmetic, conditional logic, loops, record CRUD operations (add, edit, delete, fetch), HTTP requests to external APIs, and calls to other Zoho services. It is designed to be approachable for non-professional developers.

Where Deluge Is Used

In Zoho Creator, Deluge appears in: form field validation, on-load actions (run code when a form opens), subform actions, workflow actions, scheduled function code, custom widget code, and integration task scripts. Across the Zoho ecosystem, the same Deluge skills transfer to CRM custom functions, Books scripts, and Flow custom functions.
