Date Field (Creator)

A Date Field in Zoho Creator captures a date or date-time value, enabling date-based filtering, scheduling, calendar reports, and time calculations.

What Is a Date Field in Zoho Creator?

A Date Field is a form input in Zoho Creator that stores a date or date-and-time value. Users select a value through a date picker calendar widget rather than typing free text, ensuring consistent format and valid date storage. Date Fields are essential for any application that involves deadlines, scheduling, tracking durations, or generating calendar-based views.

Date vs Date-Time Configuration

Builder can configure the field to capture date only (year, month, day) or full date-time including hours and minutes. Date-time fields are appropriate for appointment scheduling or event timestamps where the time of day is relevant. Date-only fields suit use cases like project due dates or date of birth where the time component is not meaningful.

Using Date Fields in Logic and Reports

Date Fields unlock time-based functionality across Creator. Scheduled Triggers can reference a date field to calculate when to fire. Calendar Reports use a Date Field as the event placement axis. Deluge scripts can compare dates, calculate the number of days between two dates, or check whether a record is overdue. Date Fields are also the basis for deadline alerts and SLA tracking workflows.
