Data Formatter

A utility step in Zoho Flow that transforms data values between steps, such as reformatting dates, trimming strings, converting data types, or performing calculations.

What Is a Data Formatter in Zoho Flow?

The Data Formatter in Zoho Flow is a built-in step that transforms data values from one format or type to another, without requiring custom code. It handles common data transformation needs that arise when moving data between applications with different format requirements.

Transformation Types

The Data Formatter can: reformat dates (convert YYYY-MM-DD to DD/MM/YYYY), manipulate strings (uppercase, lowercase, trim whitespace, replace characters), perform mathematical operations on numbers, split or join arrays, encode or decode values (Base64, URL encoding), and extract specific parts of a string using regex patterns.

Why It Matters

Applications store data in different formats. A CRM stores dates as YYYY-MM-DD; a legacy ERP expects DD-MM-YYYY. Without the Data Formatter, this mismatch would cause integration failures. Having a no-code transformation step avoids the need for custom code to handle basic data type conversions.
