A Custom Tab in Zoho People is an additional data section added to the employee record to capture information that is not covered by the default fields — such as asset assignments, skills inventory, language proficiency, or background verification status.
Zoho People’s default employee record covers the standard HR fields: personal details, employment information, leave, attendance, and documents. A Custom Tab extends the record with organisation-specific information that doesn’t fit these categories.
For example, a technology company might add a Skills Tab with fields for programming languages, certifications, and years of experience. A logistics company might add an Asset Tab to track which vehicles or devices are assigned to each driver.
HR administrators can create Custom Tabs from the configuration section, adding any combination of field types: text, date, dropdown, checkbox, number, or file attachment. Permissions can be set to control who can view or edit each tab — some tabs might be visible only to HR, while others are viewable by the employee and their manager.
