Contact (Campaigns)

A person in the Zoho Campaigns contact database with an email address, associated properties, and a subscription status that determines their eligibility to receive campaigns.

What Is a Contact in Zoho Campaigns?

A contact in Zoho Campaigns is a person in your email marketing database, identified by their email address. Each contact record stores properties like name, phone, company, location, and any custom fields you have defined. Contact records also track the person’s subscription status and engagement history across your campaigns.

Contact Statuses

A contact’s status determines whether they receive campaigns: Subscribed (active), Unsubscribed (opted out), Bounced (invalid email), Do Not Contact (manually excluded), or Spam Complained (flagged as spam). Only subscribed contacts receive campaign emails.

Contact vs Subscriber

All subscribers are contacts, but not all contacts are subscribers. A contact exists in the database regardless of their subscription status. A subscriber is specifically a contact who is actively subscribed to at least one mailing list and eligible to receive campaigns.
