A Composite Item in Zoho Inventory is a finished product that is assembled from multiple component items. When a composite item is sold, Zoho Inventory automatically deducts the component quantities from stock, enabling basic manufacturing and kit assembly tracking.
A Composite Item (also called a bundle or kit) is a product that consists of multiple components assembled together. For example, a Computer Workstation bundle might be composed of 1 Monitor, 1 CPU, 1 Keyboard, and 1 Mouse. When you sell or ship the Workstation bundle, Zoho Inventory deducts one of each component from stock automatically.
A Bundle is sold as a combined package but the components are not assembled into a distinct new product — they are just grouped on the invoice. A Composite Item implies actual assembly: the component items are consumed to create a new finished product that is then stocked and shipped. Zoho Inventory supports both concepts, with Composite Items being the more inventory-intensive of the two.
Before selling a Composite Item, you create an Assembly Order in Zoho Inventory that records the consumption of components and the production of finished goods. This gives you a clear audit trail of what materials were used to produce each batch of finished products.
