Chart Drill-Down in Zoho Analytics is an interactive feature that lets viewers click on a data point in a chart to navigate to a more granular view of that data, such as expanding a yearly total into monthly values or a regional total into city-level details.
Use Chart Drill-Down when your reporting requirements go beyond what built-in defaults provide. This feature is most valuable for organisations that have moved past basic data viewing and need precise control over how their data is organised, queried, or presented. Teams working with multiple data sources, varied user groups, or complex business logic will find this capability central to their Zoho Analytics setup.
Before configuring Chart Drill-Down, ensure that the underlying data tables are clean and consistently structured. Irregular naming conventions, mixed data types in a single column, or missing values can produce unexpected results. For shared environments, coordinate with your Workspace Administrator before making changes that affect reports used by other team members. Testing on a duplicate report before applying changes to production dashboards is a sound practice.
Chart Drill-Down allows viewers to click on a chart element, such as a bar or pie slice, to see a more detailed breakdown of that specific data point. The drill-down path is configured in advance, defining the hierarchy from coarse to fine granularity.
In the Report Editor, after building your chart, select the Drill-Down option and add the hierarchy levels. For example, set the first level as Year, the second as Quarter, and the third as Month. Viewers can then click through the hierarchy in the published chart.
