Biometric Integration

Biometric Integration in Zoho People connects physical fingerprint scanners, face recognition devices, or RFID card readers at office entry points to the Zoho People attendance system, automatically syncing clock-in and clock-out records without manual entry.

What is Biometric Integration in Zoho People?

Most organisations use physical biometric devices — fingerprint scanners or face recognition cameras — at office entrances to record employee attendance. Biometric Integration connects these devices to Zoho People so the punch data is automatically imported into the attendance system, eliminating the need for HR to manually compile and enter attendance data from device logs.

Integration methods

  • Direct integration: For supported device brands, Zoho People can connect directly via the device’s API or middleware.
  • File-based sync: The biometric device exports attendance data as a CSV or text file at regular intervals; Zoho People imports this file automatically.
  • Third-party middleware: A connector application (like ZKTeco middleware) bridges the device and Zoho People.

Benefits of biometric integration

Attendance data flows in real time or near-real time, eliminating end-of-month data entry marathons. Discrepancies between biometric records and leave approvals (employee marked present but leave was applied) are flagged automatically for HR review.
