Attendance

Attendance in Zoho People is the record of whether each employee was present or absent on each working day, including their clock-in and clock-out times, breaks, and any overtime or shift deviations. It feeds directly into payroll, leave, and compliance reporting.

What is Attendance in Zoho People?

Attendance tracking in Zoho People records when each employee starts and ends their working day, how long they worked, whether they were on time, and whether they took any breaks. This data is used to calculate pay (especially for hourly workers or those with variable pay components), validate leave against actual absences, and produce compliance reports.

Attendance capture methods

  • Web check-in: Employees clock in via the Zoho People web portal.
  • Mobile app: Clock in from a smartphone, optionally with GPS location capture.
  • Biometric integration: Attendance is captured from fingerprint or face recognition devices and synced to Zoho People.
  • IP restriction: Clock-in is only allowed from specific IP addresses (office network).
  • Geo-fencing: Clock-in is only allowed when the employee’s phone is within a defined geographic boundary.

Attendance and payroll

Attendance data drives LOP calculations, overtime pay, and shift allowances. When Zoho People is integrated with Zoho Payroll, these values are passed automatically to the payroll engine each pay period.
