Zoho Flow

Action

A step in a Zoho Flow that performs an operation in a connected application in response to a trigger, such as creating a record, sending an email, or updating a field.

What Is an Action in Zoho Flow?

An action in Zoho Flow is a step that performs an operation in a connected application. Actions execute after the trigger and any conditions are evaluated. A single flow can contain multiple sequential actions, parallel actions, and actions within conditional branches.

Action Types

Standard action types include: Create Record (add a new entry to an app), Update Record (modify an existing record), Send Email (dispatch an email through a connected mail service), Send Notification (push a message to Slack, Teams, or Zoho Cliq), HTTP Request (call an external API), and Custom Function (execute Deluge code for complex logic).

Data Mapping

When configuring an action, you map fields from the trigger data or previous action outputs to the action’s input fields. For example, the trigger’s company_name field is mapped to the Zoho Books customer_name field in a Create Customer action. Accurate data mapping is the most common source of flow errors and requires careful testing.
