An administrator enables Toppings from Bigin’s Settings panel. Each Topping is a self-contained module: enabling Products, for example, adds a Products tab where you can create a catalogue, and then lets you associate product line items directly with pipeline deals. Toppings are pre-built by Zoho and come with their own field sets, so they require no custom development. Currently available Toppings include Products, Appointments, Purchase Orders, and similar business objects suited to small businesses.
Enable a Topping when your sales process regularly involves data beyond a contact name and deal value, and when you want that data kept inside Bigin rather than maintained in a spreadsheet alongside it. Use the Products Topping when you sell a defined catalogue. Use Appointments when scheduling is central to your close process. Do not enable Toppings you will not use regularly: each active Topping adds menu items and fields that can clutter the interface for users who do not need them.
Toppings availability depends on your Bigin plan: some Toppings are restricted to higher tiers. Once enabled, a Topping cannot be disabled without potentially losing data stored in that module, so evaluate your need before activation. Toppings are not the same as custom modules in Zoho CRM: they are pre-configured add-ons, not fully customisable modules. Field-level customisation within a Topping is limited compared to full CRM modules.
No. Toppings are pre-built modules provided by Zoho, not a framework for creating arbitrary custom modules. If you need a fully custom data object with bespoke fields and relationships, you would need to upgrade to Zoho CRM, which supports custom modules. Bigin’s Toppings are intentionally limited to keep the product simple for small business use.
Enabling a Topping makes the module visible and available to all users in the Bigin organisation. Administrators can control which users can create or edit records within a Topping through Bigin’s role and profile settings, but the Topping itself is visible organisation-wide once switched on by the admin.
