Card Feed

An automated data stream that imports corporate or personal card transactions directly into Zoho Expense from a bank or card provider.

What Is a Card Feed?

A card feed is an automated connection between a bank or card issuer and Zoho Expense that pushes transaction data into the system without manual intervention. Once a card feed is set up, new transactions appear in Zoho Expense within hours of being posted, ready for employees to review and categorise.

How Card Feeds Work in Zoho Expense

Card feeds use direct bank connections or file-based imports (CSV, OFX, QFX) to pull transaction data. Each transaction entry includes the date, merchant name, amount, and card details. Zoho Expense uses this data to pre-populate expense entries, so employees only need to add a category, receipt, and report assignment rather than typing everything from scratch.

Benefits of Card Feeds

Card feeds reduce manual data entry errors and ensure no transaction is missed or forgotten. Finance teams benefit from real-time visibility into corporate spending without waiting for employees to submit reports. Automated feeds also make month-end reconciliation faster by giving a complete digital record of all card activity.

How often does the card feed refresh in Zoho Expense?

The refresh frequency depends on the card provider and the connection type. Direct bank connections typically update daily or in near real-time, while file-based imports update whenever a new file is uploaded. Zoho Expense notifies employees when new transactions appear in their feed.

What if a transaction in the card feed is a duplicate?

Zoho Expense has duplicate detection logic that flags transactions with the same date, amount, and merchant that appear more than once. Employees and admins can review flagged duplicates before adding them to reports to prevent double-claiming.
