An Inventory Location is a defined stock-holding point in Zoho FSM’s parts management system. Locations include central warehouses, regional depots, service vans, and technician vehicle stock. Parts quantities are tracked per location, so FSM knows not just how many units of a part exist in total, but where each unit physically is. This precision is essential for dispatching the right technician to a job based on who is carrying the needed part.
Each field agent’s service vehicle can be set up as a named inventory location. Parts loaded onto the vehicle at the start of the week are recorded at that location. When the agent uses a part on a job, the vehicle location’s stock decrements. End-of-week vehicle counts can be reconciled against the FSM record to identify discrepancies caused by unreported usage or parts carried over between periods.
When stock at any location drops below a reorder threshold, FSM can alert the parts coordinator. Parts can be transferred between locations (from warehouse to vehicle, or from one depot to another) using an inter-location transfer record. The transfer records the movement in FSM’s audit trail, maintaining accurate stock levels at both the source and destination locations throughout the transfer.
When a technician logs parts usage on a Work Order, FSM deducts from the inventory location assigned to that technician (typically their vehicle stock). If the part is not in their vehicle stock, a Parts Request is raised and the parts coordinator identifies which location has the part available for dispatch. The system shows stock levels by location to help coordinators make fulfilment decisions.
Yes. FSM integrates with Zoho Inventory, and inventory locations configured in Zoho Inventory can be linked to FSM locations. Parts consumed in FSM reduce stock in the corresponding Zoho Inventory location, and purchase orders raised in Inventory to restock are reflected in FSM when goods are received. This integration prevents double-entry of stock data across the two systems.
