An Asset Location is the physical address or site identifier associated with a specific asset in Zoho FSM. For customers with multiple sites, each site is a distinct location, and the assets at each site are linked to the corresponding location record. When a Work Order is created for an asset, FSM uses the asset’s location address for routing, territory matching, and navigation directions in the field agent’s mobile app.
A customer account may have a billing address different from the site addresses where their assets are installed. FSM manages this by allowing multiple location records per account. The billing address is on the account record; each installation site is a separate location. Work Orders are linked to the specific location where the asset sits, ensuring the technician is directed to the correct site rather than the head office.
When a customer relocates an asset (such as moving equipment to a different floor or facility), the asset’s location is updated in FSM. Future Work Orders will use the new address. This update may also reassign the asset to a different Service Territory if the new location is in a different geographic zone, which in turn changes which agents are eligible to service it.
FSM supports location-level asset lists so all assets at a site are grouped together and visible from the location record. While a full floor plan CAD view is not a native FSM feature, the asset list with location notes and photo attachments allows technicians to understand the physical context of the assets they are servicing.
When an asset is created with a specific location address, FSM matches that address to the configured Service Territory boundaries. The asset (and any Work Orders created for it) is assigned to the territory that covers that address. If territory boundaries change, existing asset location assignments can be revalidated in bulk to ensure the territory assignment is still correct.
