A Conditional Field is a form field in Zoho Creator whose display behaviour is controlled by rules that evaluate other field values on the same form. The most common pattern is showing or hiding a field based on a selection made in another field. For example, a form might show a Reason field only when the Status dropdown is set to Rejected, hiding it for all other statuses.
Field conditions are set up in the Field Rules panel of the Creator form editor. A rule specifies: when a given field has a certain value, then show, hide, or mark as required another specified field. Multiple rules can be layered on a form to create complex dynamic behaviour. Rules execute in the browser as the user interacts with the form, without requiring a page reload.
Conditional fields reduce form clutter by displaying only the fields relevant to the current context. They also prevent data quality issues by making certain fields required only when their context makes them meaningful, such as requiring a return address only when the Requires Return checkbox is checked. This results in cleaner data and a less intimidating form experience for users, particularly on forms that handle multiple record types or scenarios.
