A Single Line Field is a basic text input field in Zoho Creator that accepts a single line of plain text. It is the most common field type for collecting short, structured text values such as a person’s name, an invoice number, a product code, or a city name. The field renders as a standard text box on the form.
Single Line Fields support character limits, regular expression patterns for format validation, and uniqueness constraints. A field collecting email addresses can be validated against an email pattern, while a field for invoice numbers can enforce a specific prefix and digit format. These constraints are configured through the field’s properties in the Creator form builder without writing any code.
Use a Single Line Field when the expected input is brief and fits on one line, such as names, codes, or short labels. Use a Multi Line Field when users need to enter longer descriptive text such as notes, comments, or address blocks that may run to several lines. Using the correct field type improves form usability and sets appropriate expectations for users filling in the form.
