App Version

An App Version in Zoho Creator is a snapshot of the application at a specific point in time, allowing builders to track changes and roll back to earlier configurations if needed.

What Is an App Version in Zoho Creator?

Zoho Creator maintains a version history of each published application. Every time a builder publishes the app, Creator saves the current configuration as a versioned snapshot. These snapshots are accessible from the version history panel and allow builders to review what the application looked like at any previous publication point.

Rolling Back to a Previous Version

If a newly published change introduces a problem, builders can restore a previous App Version to revert the application to a known-good state. Rollback replaces the current published configuration with the selected historical version. This is a safety net for complex applications where a change in one area unexpectedly affects another.

Version Management Best Practices

Builders working on significant changes should document what each publish represents before committing, using the publication notes field if available. In team environments with multiple builders, version history helps identify who made which changes and when. For applications where downtime is unacceptable, testing changes thoroughly in a Sandbox environment before publishing to production reduces the need for rollbacks.
