A Lookup field in Zoho Creator creates a relationship between two forms, similar to a foreign key in a relational database. It allows a record in one form to reference a specific record in another form. For example, a Sales Order form might have a Lookup field pointing to the Customer form, linking each sales order to the customer who placed it.
When a user fills in a lookup field, they search for and select the related record from a popup list. The lookup field stores the ID of the referenced record and can display any field from that record (e.g., showing the customer name when storing the customer ID). Auto-complete makes finding related records fast.
Multiple records in Form B can point to the same record in Form A, creating a one-to-many relationship (e.g., multiple Sales Order Lines linking back to one Sales Order). Zoho Creator manages these relationships automatically and allows you to display related records as a grid within the parent record’s detail view.
