Trigger

The event in a source application that starts a Zoho Flow automation, such as a record being created, updated, or a form being submitted.

What Is a Trigger in Zoho Flow?

A trigger in Zoho Flow is the initiating event that starts an automated workflow. Every flow begins with exactly one trigger. When the trigger event occurs in the source application, Zoho Flow wakes up and executes the subsequent actions defined in the flow.

Trigger Types

Common trigger types include: Record Created (a new CRM lead is created), Record Updated (a deal stage changes), Form Submitted (a Zoho Forms response is submitted), Webhook (an external system sends an HTTP POST), Scheduler (time-based trigger at a recurring interval or specific time), and API Trigger (manually invoked from another flow or external system).

Trigger Data

The trigger event carries data (the record that was created, the form fields that were submitted) that becomes available in subsequent flow steps. This data is mapped to action fields — for example, the CRM lead’s email address from the trigger is mapped to the recipient field of a send-email action.
