CC Recipient

A person added to a Zoho Sign document who receives a copy for information purposes but is not required to sign or take action.

What Is a CC Recipient in Zoho Sign?

A CC (carbon copy) recipient in Zoho Sign receives a copy of the document for informational purposes but does not need to sign, review, or approve it. CC recipients receive email notifications when the document is sent and when it is completed, along with a copy of the final signed document.

Common CC Use Cases

Typical CC recipients include: finance team members who need a copy of a signed contract for billing; legal counsel who should have a record of all signed agreements; account managers who need to monitor a client contract’s status; or compliance officers who must keep copies of regulatory documents.

CC vs Signatory Roles

A CC recipient has no action required and no ability to prevent document completion. A signatory (even a reviewer without signing authority) must actively interact with the document. Add someone as CC when they need visibility and a final copy but do not need to participate in the signing process itself.

Can a CC Recipient in Zoho Sign view the document before all signatures are collected?

Yes, depending on when the CC notification is triggered. If the CC is configured to receive a copy when the document is sent, they receive access at the same time as the signatories. If configured to receive upon completion, they only see the fully signed document. The timing is set when configuring the CC recipient in the document workflow.

Can a CC Recipient in Zoho Sign be given signing rights after being added as CC?

No. CC Recipient and Signatory are distinct roles in Zoho Sign. A CC Recipient is read-only and receives a notification copy only. To have someone both sign and receive a copy, they should be added as a Signatory. The signed document is automatically emailed to all parties including CC recipients upon completion.
