Sender Score

A reputation metric assigned to an email sender's IP address by receiving mail servers and third-party monitoring services, reflecting the quality and trustworthiness of the sender's email practices.

What Is Sender Score?

Sender score is a reputation metric (scored 0-100) assigned to an email sending IP address by Return Path (now Validity) and used by mail providers to evaluate incoming email. A higher score indicates a trusted sender. Scores below 70 are considered poor and often result in inbox placement issues; scores above 90 are excellent.

What Affects Sender Score

Factors that negatively impact sender score include high bounce rates, high spam complaint rates, being listed on spam blocklists, and poor engagement (many recipients deleting emails without reading). Positive factors include high open rates, low complaint rates, and consistent sending patterns.

Monitoring Your Score

Check your Zoho Campaigns sending IP’s sender score regularly using tools like SenderScore.org or Google Postmaster Tools. Declining scores require prompt investigation and corrective action, as reputation recovery takes weeks of consistently good sending practices to achieve.
