Do Not Contact

A status in Zoho Campaigns that manually excludes a contact from all campaign communications, typically applied for legal, contractual, or relationship reasons.

What Is Do Not Contact in Zoho Campaigns?

Do Not Contact (DNC) is a contact status in Zoho Campaigns that excludes a contact from receiving any email campaigns. Unlike unsubscribing (which is contact-initiated), DNC is set manually by the marketing team or automatically via a CRM integration. Common reasons include legal instructions, active contract disputes, or internal policy.

DNC vs Unsubscribed

An unsubscribed contact exercised their own choice to stop receiving emails. A DNC contact has been manually excluded by your team, regardless of their expressed preferences. Both statuses result in the contact not receiving campaigns, but they represent different initiating actions and different implications for future re-engagement.

Managing DNC Lists

Maintain a clean DNC list, particularly for B2B contacts where the DNC instruction may come from a legal team or account manager rather than the contact themselves. When syncing CRM contacts to Zoho Campaigns, ensure CRM-level DNC flags are respected in the sync configuration.
