A segment in Zoho Campaigns is a dynamic group of contacts automatically filtered from your contact database based on defined criteria. Unlike a static mailing list, a segment recalculates its membership each time a campaign is sent, ensuring only contacts matching the current criteria are included.
Segments can be based on contact properties (city, industry, company size), engagement behaviour (opened last 3 emails, clicked a specific link), subscription status, purchase history (via CRM sync), or custom field values. Multiple conditions can be combined with AND/OR logic.
Lists are static — contacts must be explicitly added or removed. Segments are dynamic — membership updates automatically. Use lists for broad audience categories (e.g., All Customers) and segments for targeted sub-audiences (e.g., Customers who haven’t opened in 90 days).
