Channel Sync

The automatic synchronisation of inventory levels across multiple sales channels in Zoho Inventory to prevent overselling when stock is sold on one platform.

What Is Channel Sync?

Channel sync in Zoho Inventory ensures that when a product is sold on one sales channel (say, Amazon), the available stock quantity is automatically updated on all other connected channels (Shopify, Etsy, and your own website) to reflect the reduced availability. This prevents a single unit from being sold to multiple customers simultaneously.

How It Works

Every time a sale is recorded on any connected channel, Zoho Inventory recalculates available stock and pushes the updated figure to all other platforms via API. The speed of the sync depends on the platform’s API rate limits, typically updating within minutes.

Overselling Risk

Without channel sync, a business with 5 units listed on three platforms could theoretically receive 5 orders on each platform simultaneously, resulting in 10 units of unfulfillable demand. Channel sync mitigates this risk, though a brief window of overselling is still possible during high-velocity sales events.
