Zoho Inventory

Unit of Measurement

The unit in which an item is bought, sold, or stocked in Zoho Inventory, such as pieces, kilograms, litres, or boxes.

What Is a Unit of Measurement?

A Unit of Measurement (UoM) in Zoho Inventory specifies how an item is quantified. Standard examples include Nos (numbers/pieces), kg, litre, metre, and box. Each item has a primary unit, and you can configure secondary units for purchase or sales with conversion factors.

UoM Conversion

Zoho Inventory supports UoM conversion so you can buy in cases and sell in pieces. For example, buying 1 carton (24 bottles) and selling 1 bottle. The system automatically adjusts stock levels using the defined conversion factor.

Why UoM Matters

Accurate UoM configuration prevents stock discrepancies caused by quantity mismatches between purchase and sales units. It is particularly important for FMCG, pharma, and distribution businesses.
