What is a Shift Allowance in Zoho People?

Shift Allowance is an extra payment made to employees who work shifts that fall outside standard daytime hours. Night shifts, early morning shifts, and weekend rotations typically attract a shift allowance to compensate employees for the personal inconvenience involved and to attract workers to less desirable time slots.

Configuring Shift Allowance in Zoho People

In Zoho People, the shift configuration includes an allowance field: you set the allowance amount (a fixed daily amount or a percentage of basic salary) for each shift type that qualifies. When an employee works that shift, the allowance is automatically included in their payroll data for the pay period.

Integration with payroll

When Zoho People is integrated with Zoho Payroll, the shift allowance amounts earned during the month are automatically passed to the payroll engine and included in the monthly salary calculation without manual input.
