Peer Review

Peer Review in Zoho People is a component of the performance appraisal process where colleagues at the same level provide structured feedback on an employee's work quality, collaboration, and behaviour — contributing to a more rounded view of performance alongside manager and self-assessments.

What is Peer Review in Zoho People?

Peer Review collects performance feedback from colleagues who work alongside the employee — people who interact with them daily and have direct visibility into their working style, collaboration, and contribution to team outcomes. This lateral perspective complements the manager’s top-down view and the employee’s self-assessment.

Who selects peers

Depending on configuration, peer reviewers can be nominated by the employee (subject to manager approval), assigned by the manager, or identified automatically based on team membership and recent project collaboration. Zoho People supports all three approaches.

Anonymity

Peer review responses are typically collected anonymously to encourage honest feedback. Reviewers see that they will be providing feedback but the employee and manager cannot see which specific colleague provided which response — only the aggregated feedback is shared.

Weighting in final rating

The contribution of peer feedback to the final performance rating varies by organisation. Some use it purely as qualitative development input with no weighting in the final score; others assign a small percentage (e.g., 10–20%) of the overall rating to peer feedback.
