Holiday Calendar (People)

A Holiday Calendar in Zoho People is a configured list of public and company holidays for a specific location or employee group. It determines which dates are non-working days for leave calculations, attendance tracking, and shift scheduling.

What is a Holiday Calendar in Zoho People?

A Holiday Calendar defines the non-working days for a group of employees — national public holidays, regional holidays, and company-declared holidays. When an employee applies for leave that spans a holiday, the holiday is automatically excluded from the leave count if the calendar is correctly configured.

Multiple calendars for multiple locations

For organisations with offices across multiple states or countries, each location gets its own Holiday Calendar. Employees in Maharashtra follow Maharashtra public holidays; employees in Karnataka follow Karnataka holidays. Assigning employees to a location automatically applies the correct calendar.

Types of holidays

  • National holidays: Holidays applicable to all employees regardless of location (e.g., Independence Day, Republic Day).
  • Regional or state holidays: Holidays specific to a state or city.
  • Optional holidays: Employees can choose a fixed number of optional holidays from a list each year.
  • Company holidays: Organisation-specific non-working days (e.g., a company anniversary day off).
