Zoho CRM Custom Modules
User-defined data structures in Zoho CRM that extend the platform to track business objects not covered by standard modules.
Zoho CRM ships with standard modules: Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Deals, Activities. Custom modules let you create entirely new data entities that your business needs but that do not exist out of the box. Examples include: Equipment (for a field service company), Contract (for a law firm), Project Milestone (for a software agency), or Site Visit (for a real estate developer).
A custom module behaves like any standard module: it has fields, views, reports, relationships to other modules, and can be the subject of workflow rules, Blueprints, and Deluge functions. You define the fields, the page layout, the related lists, and the permissions per user profile.
The decision of when to use a custom module versus when to use a custom field on an existing module is an architecture choice. Custom modules are right when the new entity is a first-class object with its own lifecycle, relationships, and reporting needs. If you just need to track one additional attribute of an existing record, a custom field is simpler.
