NetSuite Saved Searches
NetSuite's primary tool for querying, filtering, and reporting on data across any record type, with the results available as lists, summaries, or data sources for dashboards.
Saved Searches are the core reporting and data access mechanism in NetSuite. A Saved Search combines a record type (Transaction, Customer, Item), filter criteria, and output columns into a reusable query that can be accessed from the record list view, embedded in dashboards as a portlet, used as a data source for a SuiteScript, or scheduled to email results.
The power of Saved Searches comes from their flexibility. You can join across multiple record levels: a Transaction Saved Search can expose fields from the transaction header, line items, the associated customer, the customer's shipping address, and the items on the transaction, all in one flat result set. Summary-type searches aggregate data with GROUP BY logic.
Common production issues: Saved Searches with too many columns and no filters will load slowly and may time out. Searches used as SuiteScript data sources must be designed with governance in mind — a search returning 10,000 rows called 100 times per hour creates governance pressure. Aaxonix reviews Saved Searches for performance as part of every NetSuite optimisation engagement.
