EVM produces objective indicators of schedule and cost efficiency that are more reliable than simple percentage-complete estimates.<\/p>\n<h2>Three Core Values<\/h2>\n<p>PV (Planned Value) is the budgeted cost of work scheduled to date. EV (Earned Value) is the budgeted cost of work actually completed. AC (Actual Cost) is the real cost incurred to complete that work. From these three numbers, four key metrics are derived: SV, CV, SPI, and CPI.<\/p>\n<h2>When to Use EVM<\/h2>\n<p>EVM is most valuable on large, complex projects where intuitive status reporting is unreliable.
